Simple Products not showing linked to configurable magento 2

Our configurable products had simple products linked, and was working fine, but suddenly in the backend, its no longer linked, the simple products exist, but are no longer linked. When we export all of our products, it shows as linked, in the CSV, so unsure what's causing this.
