Magento error due to multiple product import script

Imported resource (image) could not be downloaded from external resource due to timeout or access permissions in row(s): 1 General system exception happened Additional data:

This is the error message we are receiving when trying to upload multiple products to a website through a script.

Please can a Magento expert shed light on what might be causing this?
