API magento integration

We have a magento site that we are using api from another site to insert an app into the page. Each product in mageneto has a smartlink asscociated with it, but when I try and change this smartlink it stil will not load the new smartlink. I presume the previous develeop must have a universal setting somewhere that loads original link. Initially i need to change this setting, but want to work with somweone who know Magento, API and Iframe as we feed this site to a third party
