Motivation.

High-voltage storage is the highly innovative backbone of electromobility.
Due to legal requirements and general quality assurance, all relevant components must be traceable using a unique serial number.
A typical repair case is the exchange of cell modules in a high-voltage battery in the vehicle. Here, the serial numbers of the cell module removed and the newly inserted cell module as well as the numbered slot in the high-voltage battery must be recorded.
A further complication is that in the context of a cross-swap with regard to the slots, the “non-functionality” of a cell module is counter-checked.


Goal.

Design a simple approach for use in a repair shop using state-of-the-art image processing tools with low requirements on the acquisition hardware.
Use advanced AI for the slot-related localization of the cell module within the high-voltage storage and for the reading and uniqueness check of the serial numbers.
Generate a reliable data model.
Provide the model and the associated process and tooling proposal.


Method.

Step 1: Process analysis of the repair process using a video recording.
Step 2: Analyze images, especially understand usable Digital Matrix Code. Chooses solutions.
Step 3: Train a model.
