Project Zomboid Linux Deployment
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m launching a new Project Zomboid multiplayer server inspired by the high-quality experience of servers like Dawn of the Dead/Sunday Drivers/Z's Fun server. I’m looking for an experienced PZ server technician/modder to help me build, configure, optimize, and partially code the server from the ground up.
This project involves both technical server setup and custom mod creation, ensuring a smooth, polished gameplay experience for players.
What I Need Help With...
1. Server Setup & Optimization
Full dedicated server configuration (Open ports, users, file structure, JVM settings, SteamCMD, etc.)
Performance optimization for high-pop player counts
Lag reduction
Stutter debugging
Memory & CPU tuning
Proper mod load order setup
Server-side configuration (SandboxVars, loot settings, rebalancing, etc.)
Help creating a stable modpack with dependencies handled correctly
2. Custom Mod Development *
I need custom-coded features similar to the polish of popular RP/survival-focused servers. Examples include:
Quality-of-life mods (e.g., better inventory systems, book packing, improved professions)
Custom items, spawn tables, or crafting systems
Small gameplay tweaks (XP balance, zombie settings, events, etc.)
Event scripts (infection outbreaks, timed horde waves, etc.)
Server branding additions (custom loading screens, icons, UI tweaks)
Most mods will be written in Lua, so deep PZ modding experience is required.
3. Troubleshooting & Maintenance *
Fix conflicts between mods
Solve black squares/chunks issues
Analyze logs and reduce errors
Provide support/advice on best practices
Requirements *
Proven experience with Project Zomboid servers
Solid understanding of Lua scripting and PZ’s modding framework
Ability to debug large modlists
Familiar with Steam Workshop integration
(Bonus) Experience with custom textures, UI elements, or small SFX
What I Provide
Server access
Full list of required mods
Clear documentation of features & systems I’d like to implement
Goal *
To create a polished, stable, immersive Project Zomboid multiplayer server named “Dead at Dusk”, capable of supporting scripted events, custom QoL mods, and a smooth gameplay experience similar to the industry’s top PZ servers.
