ESP32 LoRa-UWB RTK Tracker Prototype
Budget: ₹12,500 – ₹37,500 INR
I’m building a proof-of-concept vehicle tracker that pairs the flexibility of an ESP32 with both LoRa and UWB radios and adds an RTK-capable GNSS module for centimeter-grade positioning. The unit must reliably report location coordinates, speed and movement metrics, key environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, pressure) and support a collision-avoidance channel that warns of nearby tagged assets via UWB ranging.
Scope of work
• Electronics: create complete schematics, PCB layout (4-layer preferred), antenna matching and a vetted BOM using readily available parts. Core blocks are ESP32, SX1262/SX1276 LoRa transceiver, Decawave/ Qorvo UWB (DW3000 family acceptable), multi-band RTK GNSS (u-blox F9 series or similar), 9-axis IMU, barometric sensor and power management with Li-ion charging and vehicle 12 V tolerance.
• Firmware: develop Arduino or ESP-IDF code that ① acquires RTK-corrected position, ② transmits over LoRa at configurable intervals, ③ performs UWB ranging for collision-avoidance alerts, ④ logs data locally and ⑤ exposes a simple serial/USB setup menu.
• Prototype: assemble and bring-up two boards, proving outdoor LoRa + RTK range >5 km LOS and UWB ranging accuracy <10 cm within 50 m.
• Documentation: deliver build files, flashing instructions and a short test report with screenshots or photos showing accuracy results.
Acceptance criteria
1. Continuous vehicle tracking with <2 cm horizontal error when RTK corrections are present.
2. Speed calculation error ≤2 % at 0–100 km/h.
3. Environmental readings within datasheet tolerances.
4. Collision-avoidance alert latency <200 ms at 20 m separation.
5. All source files compile without warnings on a clean install of the stated toolchain.
If you have prior experience combining ESP32, LoRa, UWB or RTK modules, let’s discuss timelines and your suggested component set so we can move straight into design.
I will need full gerber for 2-3 versions with different combinations so we can take production of the same. I can share basic design work and BOM i already finalized.
This is a product am trying to make so will need a NDA.
