BACKGROUND
We believe that there is a mental health pandemic about to emerge. The COVID19 Pandemic, the recession that followed from it as well as day to day pressures have very negatively impacted mental health in society.
The problem is that the pandemic that we are predicting would have happened even before COVID19:
Falling salaries;
Rising house prices;
Social media;
An ever connected world; and
a modern lifestyle and diet
have all led to a catastrophe that is not being addressed.
Fortunately, this is both fixable and a major pandemic avoidable. For one society is taking mental health more seriously – not where it should be but it is an improvement – and also people are taking their physical health far more seriously than before. It is good that people are more active – now they must turn the same attention to their mind.
Nothing will ever beat counselling, CBT and psychiatry. We are not against them and we promote therapy and mediation above all. It seems however that people turn to their mind only during the most challenging periods of their life; rather than regularly. I would compare it to you not exercising for a year – then having to run away from someone intending to hurt you. As you make a dash your muscles are not strong enough to maintain a good pace – nor can you effectively defend yourself from the attacker. What you do is survive the ordeal and eventually recover. If however you looked after your physical strength, you would either easily outpace the attacker – or indeed overpower them.
That is exactly how mental strength should be looked at. If you look after it daily as part of your routine when difficult and challenging times hit, you are far more equipped to handle it. It is sort of also like taking Vitamic C to boost your immune system. That is what this tablet is supposed to do.
Our purpose based start-up will be focusing on the UN SDG 3 – Wellbeing.
The purpose of the business is to tackle mental health issues head on. The first product of the business is a holistic and natural mental health supplement. The product is the end result of one of our directors dealing with mental health challenges for years and finally coming up with a holistic solution, that taken daily or even every other day, will help with mental health strength. He would take the formula in separate tablets, but now he wants to combine them with anything else that you may suggest in your expert opinion.
The business will work to promote meditation, physical health, counselling, awareness (including making mental health part of the school curriculum) and everything to do with mental health – but fundamentally it will sell supplements. This product line will diversify after initial sales.
We are creating a luxury product; it is there specifically for professionals or those who work in high stress environments. But with each sale we will be looking after those who cannot afford either the product or support. We are not a charity. This is not CSR – but it is intended to show that the primary basis of this business it is to make the world a better, kinder place.
The closest product to what we are creating is Lyma (https://lyma.life/?gclid=CjwKCAjwn6GGBhADEiwAruUcKnQHH9py4glLR1L7CIx7pkLZul_pLOcPJw98ffVe9oWxO2Pc9cCS0hoCWPUQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds–) but they miss out key ingredients and also have missed the target audience – we want way more men to sign up to this. Their product targets mostly wowmen.
