Logo Design Brief for The Story Within Counselling
I’m looking for a talented logo designer to create a minimal, conceptual, and modern logo for my counselling practice, The Story Within Counselling. I'm really hoping for a soft, hand drawn feel, not a corporate feel.
Concept:
The heart of this brand is about uncovering one’s true self – the story within that often gets hidden beneath layers we build to protect ourselves. I’m drawn to the metaphor of Matryoshka dolls (nesting dolls) to represent this. Each layer symbolizes a strategy or performance that we adopt to stay safe, while the innermost doll reflects our authentic essence.
That said, I’d like to avoid a traditional or stereotypically "Russian" style. The focus should be on the recognizable shape of the nesting dolls, but interpreted in a way that feels:
Conceptual (a metaphor, not a cartoon)
Minimal and modern
Gender-neutral
Emotionally resonant (not corporate or overly polished)
Visual Style:
I like simple line art that feels hand-drawn – imperfect in a way that suggests something personal, human, and in progress.
I'm drawn to design that feels warm, accessible, and thoughtful, rather than overly slick or graphic-heavy.
I prefer muted, natural tones and would love if the colour appears intentionally a little "outside the lines" (imperfect) to suggest the human process of growth and healing.
Ideally, the design should work in both colour and black & white, and feel balanced even at small sizes.
Deliverables:
Final logo in vector format (.AI or .EPS)
High-resolution PNGs (transparent background)
A version with and without the business name
A version suitable for favicon or social media profile
Ownership of the final artwork (IP Agreement)

I’m a counsellor with a somatic and relational focus. My work helps individuals and couples reconnect with their emotional truth, release old protective patterns, and build more authentic lives and relationships. I’d love the logo to reflect that sense of care, depth, and transformation.
