Simio Warehouse Space Optimizer -- 2
Budget: $30 – $100 AUD
I need a full-fledged Simio model that lets me Optimize storage space and, more precisely, Maximize utilization of available space inside our warehouse footprint. The simulation must capture current and future volumes, the way pallets or cartons travel from receiving to storage locations and finally to dispatch, and then let me experiment with alternative slotting, put-away, and retrieval rules so I can see, in hard numbers, how many additional units I can squeeze into the same cubic metres.
Scope
• Build or refine the Simio facility model with accurate aisle dimensions, rack elevations, travel paths, lift-truck or shuttle logic, and work-shift calendars.
• Instrument the model so I can toggle layout variants, SKU velocity classes, and batching rules without having to dive into Simio logic each time.
• Run scenario analyses that show current utilisation versus at least three improved configurations, highlighting total capacity, average travel time, and any emerging bottlenecks.
• Provide a brief slide deck or PDF summarising findings and your recommendations.
Deliverables
1. Simio model file (.spfx) with all scenarios saved.
2. A parameter sheet so I can adjust volumes or add new SKUs later.
3. Results dashboard or exported reports that clearly compare baseline vs. optimised runs.
4. Short hand-over session (recorded or live) walking me through the model structure and assumptions.
Acceptance criteria
• The baseline run matches our latest weekly throughput within ±5 %.
• At least one optimised scenario raises storage utilisation by a verifiable percentage without breaching aisle congestion thresholds.
• All animations and experiment tables open error-free in Simio version 14 or newer.
If you have prior experience modelling racking layouts, fork-lift traffic, or automated storage systems in Simio, I will appreciate seeing a sample screenshot or two.
