write out step-by-step directions to send mail from CentOS command line to a gmail account

Job ID: 34735551

Budget: $10 – $30 USD

I have a CentOS server that I use to forward mail to my Gmail account. After yesterday, for some reason mail is not being forwarded. I want step by step directions that I can use on my CentOS command line to connect directly to the gmail server (in other words, not by invoking "mail" or "sendmail", I want to connect manually to gmail's server) and send a piece of test mail to a gmail.com address.

When you bid, please put the word "carrot" in your bid description so that I know you actually read the project. (Every time I post something on here, I get overwhelmed with spam responses from people who clearly didn't read the project description.)

I don't want to use gmail's server as an SMTP server, I just want to send mail *to* one gmail address. So, my understanding is that in order to do that, I shouldn't need a gmail account password. (Just like when Hotmail's server sends mail to a gmail address, it doesn't need a gmail account password.)

Please TEST YOUR DIRECTIONS BY USING THEM YOURSELF TO SEND MAIL TO A GMAIL ACCOUNT, before sending the directions to me. I do not want to be a beta tester for the directions, I want to pay for directions that have already been tested :) Thanks!
