ubuntu issues

I am having issues with Ubuntu on my laptop. While watching videos, the laptop gets very hot and it also gets stuck while trying to shut down/reboot. I have already tried some troubleshooting steps but nothing has worked so far. I am not sure if I need to install any additional software or drivers to fix the issue, but I am open to the possibility. I need assistance to diagnose and resolve this problem.
