ZFS based file storage server

Job ID: 38362226

Budget: €250 – €750 EUR

Hi this is an sx135 from hetzner, 8 x 22 TB hard drives and 2 x 2 TB nvme,
no additional drives can be installed
and you will probably skip their 'installimage' tool and use something else,
since installimage does not support zfs.

The server will store around 40 tb of data (small files, between 1KB and 2MB),
serve them to around 400 clients using samba
and should have decent read (1 second delay max to serve a file, under full load)
and sustained write speed (ideally 100MB/s).

The nvme drives should probably be partitioned and used for:
OS and boot
arc
slog
special device

I need a zfs expert and i'm open to suggestions.

You will setup the server using debian 12
and take notes of the commands that you use
so that I can then format the server and reproduce your setup.

You will generate files in order to simulate the real data
then stress test it with simulated production load
and benchmark the result
in order to demostrate that it meets the requirements.

You need to install and configure samba, create users and use them to stress test the server,
using encrypted connections.

Max bid 400 euros.

Thank you.
