WHM Administration AND REPAIR
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I recently recovered an AWS EBS and attached it to a new EC2 instance, then swapped in elastic IP to get back to a mostly working setup with the same external WAN IP. I do not know how the following errors occurred.
Please advise if you can help me with the repair of my WHM instance. If you are not familiar with this level of WHM maintenance and repair please be honest - I don't want to make things worse.
I've spent a lot of time trying to make sure the SSL certificates were reissued properly - but that might be worth checking. This fixed some of the CGI-sys errors "IP address might have been changed, server misconfiguration, or site may have been moved to a different server""
I have an AWS EC-2 Linux instance with Centos 7 as the OS running WHM with 4 or 5 dozen other domains registered, most of those domains are WordPress sites that are not hosted on this site's WHM. Three of those domains are giving me trouble.
* Domain A is the server primary domain (server.domain.org). I can launch WHM and cPanel on their respective ports using the subdomain . But the base domain is giving me a CGI-sys error related to "the IP address has changed.
* Domain B is an important domain. The .htaccess file and Apache virtual domain are correct, but WHM is showing domain C's Index.html.
* Domain C is a not so important domain - I am only using .htaccess on that domain for redirects to launch various Zoom meetings. The redirects and Index.html load properly.
Here are several things I have found that are wrong/inconsistent:
1) Under "Show/Edit reserved IP's" the external domain shows "dedicated to " domain C. An external domain for another server shows as reserved ... it should not be listed anywhere on this WHM instance.
2) Under "Change Site's Address" C shows connected to internal address x.x.x.232 (this LAN IP should not be used) - inconsistent with the reserved IP setting above in #1.
3) Under WHM "Show IP Addresses" both A & C show connected to the external WAN IP address. I think C should be connected with the internal LAN address x.x.x.208 that all of the other hosted domains point to.
4) I have looked at, but manually modified /etc/apache2/conf/httpd.conf.
4a) A is virtual hosted at the proper .208 LAN IP - inconsistent with what is described in #3.
4b) B is virtual hosted at the correct .208 LAN address , but that address is listed twice
4c) C is virtual hosted to four IPs: both the .208 and .232 LAN addresses, the valid external IP and the shouldn't be there external IP
5) in /etc/hosts/ A shows attached to the .208 address on one line and the .232 bad address on a second line
6) in /var/cpanel/cpnat .208 is listed on one line, bad .232 and the proper WAN IP are listed on the second line and the invalid WAN is listed on the third line.
7) in /etc/ips.dnsmaster ..208 is listed on one line and my other DNS server is listed on the second line
8) in /etc/domainips C is listed associated with the bad .232 LAN IP
I have a couple of other WHM DNS questions, that are less pressing.
Please advise if you might be able to guide me through fixing these problems, and how long you think it might take. I am on the west coast of the US and about to retire for the night. Please excuse my delayed response.
