Familiarity with reverse proxies, VPNs, and secure server-to-server communication.
Knowledge of intrusion detection systems and monitoring tools.
Experience in handling security incidents and forensic analysis.
Ability to explain technical measures in simple terms for non-specialist staff.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior work with hybrid setups (home servers linked to data center/hosted servers).
Understanding of web hosting security (Nginx/Apache, MySQL hardening).
Familiarity with AbuseIPDB, fail2ban, IDS/IPS solutions.
Certifications such as RHCE, CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP (optional but valued).
Engagement Type
Remote with occasional on-site support (if needed).
Flexible, project-based with possibility of long-term retainer.
Scope of the Job
Initial audit & cleanup: Inspect both servers (home and Lithuanian), check for compromise, and review logs.
Rebuild guidance: If compromise is suspected, guide a clean OS reinstall and safe restoration.
Hardening: Implement SSH security, firewall, fail2ban, logwatch, backups, etc.
Documentation & training: Leave behind clear notes for your existing server admin to follow.
Once this is done, you should only need them again if:
You add new servers/services, or
You suspect another incident and want a fresh audit.
