Raspberry Pi Optimization for Node.js Player
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
We are looking for a skilled freelancer to help us optimize the performance of our multimedia player built on Electron and Node.js. The application runs on Raspberry Pi under Linux and is designed to play videos and images and display real-time information.
The Challenges:
• Animation lags: Animations noticeably slow down, especially when multiple iframes are present on the page.
• Video playback issues: Videos lag overall, with significant delays when working in 4K resolution.
• Performance bottlenecks: The player becomes unstable under higher loads, particularly with combined tasks.
What Needs to Be Done:
Analyze the existing codebase and identify performance bottlenecks.
• Optimize video playback and animation performance.
• Reduce system load and address performance degradation caused by multiple iframes.
• Implement hardware acceleration (GPU) on Raspberry Pi to ensure smooth 4K video playback.
• Provide recommendations and implement improvements for long-term stability and performance.
Requirements:
• Strong experience with Electron and Node.js applications.
• Proven expertise in optimizing animations and multimedia performance.
• Knowledge of hardware acceleration tools (ffmpeg, or similar).
• Familiarity with Raspberry Pi architecture and its GPU (Broadcom VideoCore).
• Experience resolving performance issues in applications involving iframes and multimedia tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with high-resolution video playback (4K) and codecs like H.264, H.265.
• Skills in debugging and optimizing low-power hardware environments.
• Understanding of web performance optimization tools (CSS animations, WebGL).
Project Details:
• Type of Work: One-time freelance project.
• Deliverables: Fully optimized player with smooth 4K playback and improved performance under load.
• Timeline: To be discussed and agreed upon.
