OpenVPN Configuration for Public IP Exposure
Budget: $10 – $30 CAD
I'm looking for an OpenVPN expert to help me modify my current OpenVPN Acces server setup. The main goal is to expose the public IP address of WAN clients instead of the internal IP (172.27.224.1). I'm using DMZ option with Access server. This change is intended to enhance my logging and monitoring capabilities. I'm talked to OpenVPN support and they said it could be possible with NAT change but it's not supported with OpenVPN Access server.
This is an example
172.27.224.1 - - [25/Mar/2025:06:03:04 -0400] "GET /media/menu-leftcorner.jpg HTTP/1.0" 200 770 "https://xxx.com/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, l
ike Gecko) Chrome/134.0.0.0 Safari/537.36"
I want the REAL IP of the Internet client and not the IP 172.27.224.1. The log is from the OpenVPN client connected with DMZ option (forward all ports from OpenVPN Access server second IP to the Openvpn client)
Key Tasks:
- Implement custom firewall rules to achieve this.
- Ensure compatibility and integration with my existing software firewall.
Skills and Experience:
- Extensive knowledge of OpenVPN Acces server
- Proficient in creating custom firewall rules.
- Experience with software firewalls.
- Good understanding of network logging and monitoring.
Please note, this is not just about improving security or network performance, but specifically aimed at enhancing my logging and monitoring capabilities.
