Nginx let's encrypt certificate renewal on password protected websites

I have just basic knowledge of nginx and let's encrypt. I can generate certificate through cron jobs and now I have a problem that one of my website is password protect and if I try to create the certificate the Let's encrypt challenge fails as connection timeout occure during try to access '/.well-known/acme-challenge/'

I need someone who can help me how to fix this problem
