Load balancer for VPS

We currently have one VPS server running various we applications. Subscribers access those applications using a web portal. We have a hard limit on the capacity of the VPS server. So, I am looking to deploy a load balancer in front of the server and adding couple more servers to distribute the load and meet capacity requirement. The preferred architecture would be to have one small VPS server and copy the existing main server into two more servers.
