Linux Programmer to set up test systems

Need to set up a Linux laptop to interface to an embedded test system. Download scripts from the laptop to the stand-alone test bed, execute individual tests on the test-bed, and upload data from from the test-bed to the laptop. We have a laptop with Ubuntu loaded, just need a programmer to tie everything together. Would want to set up a remote access program on the Laptop tso that the programmer could "remote in" to the test system.
