Enhanced Samba AD Security & Failover
Budget: ₹250,000 – ₹500,000 INR
As an organization with a vast endpoint containing a mixture of pcS, workstations and servers, we are looking to enhance our security and Admin control through the setup of a Samba Active Directory (AD) failover.
Primary Responsibilities:
SCOPE OF WORK
The following shall be required:
- Open source SAMBA software suite (latest compatible version for Directory Services and Domain Control implementation).
- Installation and commissioning of the setup at the existing hardware) and about 1400 endpoint device setup for Directory Services / Domain Control access and use (Details given in Annexure-I). This shall include the following:
o Directory Services and Domain Controller implementation using the latest version of SAMBA software suite conforming to all the requirements.
o Directory Customization including creating user groups and directory structure
o Group Policies creation based on requirement.
o Kerberos configuration as the authentication protocol.
o DNS backend configuration as required.
o NTP synchronization as required.
o SMB/CIFS implementation allowing Windows clients to transparently access Linux resources on a Samba server
o Failover setup of the entire facility using open source resources.
- All the end-point devices must be integrated with SAMBA active directory addressing compatibility issues, if any.
- Group policies shall be created in consultation with and as per requirement defined by company. Policies must be implemented in such a way that the users on the end-point devices should be able to access authorised applications only.
- The overall digital security of the Directory Services and Domain Control setup shall be the responsibility of the service provider.
- Comprehensive training sessions for the users should be provided by service provider after go-live.
- Post installation problem solving and support for 18 MONTHS
The main open source software suite and any additional resource like Operating System / virtualization software required for the completion of the project has to be open source based and to be provided by the Service Provider. Any other software/patch needed for completing the installation of the setup has to be provided by the Service Provider using open source.
Any support required for the open source software (including OS, patches, updates etc.) used for the project shall be acquired & provided by the service provider. Updates for the entire setup, whenever available, should be implemented in the project by the service provider.
The Service Provider shall provide complete documentation on the processes followed for the setup.
Required Expertise:
- Demonstrable experience in Samba AD setup and administration.
- In-depth knowledge of SMB/CIFS for Windows clients.
- Proficiency in Kerberos, DNS, and NTP configuration.
- Experience in group policies management.
Training Support & Documentation:
- Advanced problem-solving and administration training will be required for our team. Support required for 18 months. Client visit for installation and support may be required.The right candidate should be proficient in transferring knowledge and troubleshooting techniques.
- Provide complete documentation detailing every step taken and configurations made.
The ideal freelancer for this job will have a background in network administration with demonstrable experience in setting up a secure Samba Active Directory failover setup. Your in-depth understanding of group policies and network protocols will position us for enhanced security.
