Dockerized SQL Server Setup on RHEL

Setup Multiple Dockerized SQL Server Instances with Replication on RHEL including portainer.
Project Overview:
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer / Docker Specialist with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, Docker Compose, and Linux (RHEL) to help us deploy multiple Dockerized SQL Server instances on a single large RHEL server.
This setup will involve:
Persistent data storage
Transactional replication
Role-based access control (RBAC)
Backup configuration
One of the SQL Server instances will act as the Master Instance, hosting a masterDB and loginDB. All other SQL Server containers will also have the same masterDB and loginDB and must be configured to receive transactional replication from the master.
Any data changes (inserts, updates, deletes) made to the masterDB and loginDB in the master instance must be automatically replicated to all other instances.
Deliverables:
Docker Compose File
A production-ready docker-compose.yml that:
Spins up multiple SQL Server containers
Sets up the master instance and replica instances
Implements transactional replication from master to all other instances
Configures persistent storage for each SQL instance
Includes environment variables, ports, and RBAC configuration
Replication Configuration Script(s)
Scripts (T-SQL or Bash) to:
Set up and initialize replication
Add or remove replicas easily in the future
Backup Strategy
Automated backup setup for all SQL Server instances (especially the master)
Support for scheduled backups stored persistently
Documentation
Step-by-step guide on how to deploy the environment
How to verify replication and access each instance
Backup and restore instructions
Technical Requirements:
OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
SQL Server: Dockerized Microsoft SQL Server (latest or specified version)
Docker & Docker Compose
SQL Server Transactional Replication setup
Persistent Volumes for data durability
Secure authentication and RBAC (Windows or SQL authentication)
Efficient networking between containers (bridge or custom network)
Automation-friendly approach (scripts or config management)
Ideal Freelancer:
Proven experience with SQL Server replication
Solid understanding of Docker networking and volumes
Comfortable working with Linux command line
Strong communication and documentation skills
Can deliver in a clean, modular, and maintainable fashion
