Set Up My New All-in-One Server (Proxmox + Ubuntu + Windows + n8n)
1. What I Need

I’m renting one dedicated server and want it sliced into two easy-to-use virtual machines (VMs):
VM Main Use Must-Haves
Ubuntu 24.04 • Runs my 24 / 7 Python bot
• Runs n8n (free automation tool) – Docker + docker-compose
– MariaDB (for n8n data)
– Traefik or similar to give free HTTPS
– Simple desktop + RDP/VNC so I can click around
Windows Server 2022 Extra workspace for Windows-only apps – RDP enabled

To manage both VMs I want Proxmox VE on the bare server. Think of it as the control panel that lets us create and start/stop each VM.

I’ll also add Plex Media Server later, so please leave instructions or a placeholder in Docker.
2. What You’ll Deliver

Proxmox installed and reachable in a web browser.

Ubuntu VM set up with:

GUI + remote login

Docker & docker-compose

Docker stack that starts Traefik → MariaDB → n8n (n8n must open at https://flows.mydomain.com)

My sample Python script running 24 / 7 and auto-restarting (systemd or Docker).

Windows VM online with RDP access.

Basic firewall rules (only needed ports open).

One-page hand-over doc: logins, how to add new Docker apps, and how to drop in Plex later.
