Create a simple LAMP MAIL server
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Create a simple LAMP MAIL server
Create an ubuntu server on a Linode (the Linode server address will be provided).
You must install ubuntu Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP.
You MUST know how to program PHP and MySQL.
You MUST document each step of how you install the server and any and all software packages you install to make this work.
(Step 1: do this, Step 2: install this, Step 3: etc...)
I will provide a domain name for testing (domain.com).
You will configure the domain, as the only domain to work on the server. There will be no other domains.
The domain will have a catch all address, so anything in front of domain.com will be received (anything<a>domain.com).
You will configure the server to send the incoming mail to the standard linux system mail file for the only user (anything<a>domain.com).
So there will only be 1 email user, anything<a>domain.com.
You will configure the domain to work so that you can access the default web page of the server (domain.com/index.html).
Next you will make a very simple php program that will read the system mail file for anything<a>domain.com and load all the mail from the system mail file into a mysql table called incoming_mail.
You will call the php program from the browser: domain.com/readmail.php.
You will load all the elements of the mail messages into different fields in the mysql table (from email, to email, replyto email, subject, message body, attachments, ip address, etc.)
Once the mail is loaded into the mysql table by your php program, your program will erase it from the system mail file.
Next you will make a simple php program to display the mail on the screen in a simple list format (see example below). You will only showing the "from" email address and the "subject" fields.
You will call it from the browser domain.com/viewmail.php
1. from<a>jack.com | Subject1 | [click here to reply]
2. from<a>john.com | Subject2 | [click here to reply]
3. from<a>jimm.com | Subject3 | [click here to reply]
4. from<a>jane.com | Subject4 | [click here to reply]
5. from<a>june.com | Subject5 | [click here to reply]
Next you will make a simple php program to enter a simple text reply for the mail.
So when the user clicks [click here to reply], some kind of box will appear to enter a small string to reply and also a "Send reply" button will appear to click.
When the "Send reply" button is clicked, your php program will send the reply (sendreply.php).
To test, you will send mail to the server from an outside email address (your-email<a>gmail.com) and view it with your simple mail programs (readmail.php and viewmail.php).
Then you will reply to your message from your-email<a>gmail.com using the simple php program you made (sendreply.php).
Then you will check your gmail account to make sure you received the reply.
Remember, you MUST document each step of how you install the server and any and all software packages you install to make this work.
Once you have all this working, you will send me the instructions and I will create another Linode server with another domain and try to get it all working.
If it all works by following your instructions, you get paid.
Please read and understand the project details carefully. Your bid on this project is your final bid. If you are awarded the project you cannot ask for more money or a tip after the project is awarded. You will be paid what you bid. If you have any questions, please ask them before you bid. Your level of professionalism will determine if I do future work with you as there are more parts to this project to come after this one.
Thank you
