Cinnamon Mouse Motion Scrolling
Budget: €30 – €250 EUR
I need to extend the Cinnamon desktop’s System Settings with a new extension that lets users scroll simply by moving the mouse while a button (ideally the right mouse one) is held down. Think of it as click-and-drag scrolling found in some browsers, but exposed as a native option inside “Mouse & Touchpad”.
What I already have: a recent Cinnamon build running on Ubuntu 22.04 (both X11 and Wayland sessions available) and the standard development toolchain.
Acceptance criteria
1. New option appears in System Settings → Mouse & Touchpad
2. With the option enabled, holding the chosen mouse button and moving the pointer scrolls smoothly in all GTK apps, Nemo, and Firefox
Let me know how you’d approach the input event handling, and roughly how long you’d need to wrap it up.
