My environment is small but business-critical: a CentOS server on-prem plus several EC2 instances that together handle web, database, and file-storage roles. I need dependable, ongoing help keeping everything healthy, fast, and secure.
Scope of work
• Server maintenance – apply updates, manage packages, tune services, and run routine backups every week.
• Network monitoring – watch uptime, latency, and bandwidth on both the on-prem host and AWS resources, using whichever stack you’re most comfortable with (CloudWatch, Zabbix, Nagios, etc.). Send me a concise weekly health report.
• Security management – harden SSH, review firewall rules (iptables/Security Groups), rotate keys, and stay ahead of CVEs affecting CentOS or the EC2 images. A quick response plan for any vulnerability or suspicious traffic is essential.
Typical issues you’ll tackle
System performance dips under load, occasional connectivity blips between the CentOS box and the VPC, and the usual stream of new security advisories.
Deliverables & acceptance
1. A written maintenance checklist executed every week.
2. Automated monitoring with alert thresholds we agree upon.
3. Monthly security audit summary and any remediation steps completed.
4. Fast turnaround—response within 24 h for routine alerts, immediate notice if a critical incident is detected.
