Budget: £20 – £250 GBP
I’m looking for an experienced Linux and embedded systems developer to create a plug-and-play Ubuntu-based OS image for my Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4) that includes:
⸻
Project Goals:
1. Ubuntu 22.04-based Image (or lighter distro if more efficient)
• Should boot fully from microSD card (not internal eMMC)
2. Waydroid (Android container) Installed & Fully Functional
• Google Play Store (GApps)
• WhatsApp pre-sideloaded or installable
• Stable UI (e.g., Weston or lightweight desktop environment)
• Avoid boot loop or UI crash issues
3. Kernel Customization:
• Binder/ashmem enabled for Waydroid
• Working /dev/anbox-* nodes
• All kernel modules needed by Waydroid pre-built
4. 5G Modem Support (Quectel RM500Q-AE):
• Proper USB drivers
• Enable SIM support with working mobile data
• Compatible with modem-manager or equivalent
5. Input/Display:
• System must work with HDMI display and air mouse
• GUI must auto-launch on boot
6. Audio Support (optional but preferred):
• HDMI audio or USB audio device support
⸻
My Hardware Setup:
• Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (with eMMC, but using SD boot)
• Tofu Carrier Board (single HDMI + M.2 slot)
• 512GB microSD card
• Quectel RM500Q-AE (5G modem in M.2 slot)
• HDMI display
• Air Mouse
