I need a daylighting specialist who can translate our architectural concept for a new church into a set of data-driven, aesthetically compelling lighting scenes. My main aim is to enhance the visual experience—altar, stained-glass windows, main nave and presbytery must all feel spiritually uplifting while remaining true to liturgical function.
Scope
• Climate-Based Daylight Modelling in Radiance, Honeybee/Ladybug and Rhino/Grasshopper
• Evaluation of DGP, DGI and UGR to keep glare within comfort limits
• Compliance with EN 17037, with documentation ready for possible LEED and BREEAM daylight credits
• Iterative visualisations that clearly show how the space will look at key service times (dawn, noon, dusk)
Deliverables
1. Simulation files and Grasshopper definitions
2. PDF report summarising metrics (sDA, ASE, DGP/DGI/UGR), methodology and assumptions
3. Rendered stills plus a short animation or sequence of scenes highlighting the altar, stained glass, nave and presbytery
4. Concise recommendations for fixture positioning or surface finishes if changes are needed to achieve the target effect
Acceptance criteria
• All metrics meet or exceed the thresholds in EN 17037 and support LEED/BREEAM daylight credits
• Glare indices remain within agreed limits for occupied zones
• Visualisations convincingly reflect the desired artistic atmosphere
