Extreme Sleepiness Management Guidance

Job ID: 40068108

Budget: €8 – €30 EUR

I have been living for a long time with severe sleepiness and involuntary sleep episodes, especially at night and in situations where I should not fall asleep. This is not something I choose or can easily control: I fall asleep even when I don’t want to, when I shouldn’t, and when it can be dangerous.

This happens every night, repeatedly.
I have tried plans, routines, practical strategies, mild stimulants (coffee, tea, energy drinks), changes of environment, cold exposure, movement, and similar things. Sometimes they work for a short time, but the problem always comes back.

The most serious issue is that this has already put me, and still puts me, at risk, especially:

While driving

In situations where I must stay alert for safety

When I try to stay awake so I can later sleep properly, but I fail

My goal is not to avoid sleep, but something very specific: To be able to stay awake for 2–3 more hours when necessary and then sleep normally, without collapsing earlier due to exhaustion or microsleeps.
To be able to maintain this over months, not just on a single night.

What I feel I lack is not willpower, but experience in handling prolonged situations of extreme difficulty, where the body and mind stop responding normally and the consequences can be serious.

This has caused:

A lot of frustration

A constant feeling of being at the limit

Real fear that something serious could happen

A lot of misunderstanding from other people

Even so, I have not stopped trying.
I keep making plans, adjusting schedules, and trying to understand how to manage these situations better without harming myself.

I am looking for someone with real lived experience, someone who:

Has gone through long periods of extreme difficulty

Has dealt with severe sleepiness, exhaustion, or loss of alertness

Or has lived through times when the body failed even though the mind was present

And has learned, over time, how to survive, adapt, and regain safety

I do not have much money; my financial situation is very limited, so I am looking for voluntary guidance, conversation, shared experience, or advice, not paid professional services.

If anyone recognizes themselves in this and feels they can help from their own experience, I would like to talk to them.
