I need a legal researcher for CA law regarding discovery.

I’m a paralegal who has been tasked with preparing a legal research memo re what is discoverable in personal injury cases. Apparently the subpoenas we send out, which are prepared by a record retrieval company, are overly broad and we’re getting several meet and confer letters re motion to quash. The trouble is prior to this job I worked as a trial paralegal at an IP boutique firm. Our associates did the legal research. The last time I even thought about this was in paralegal school. I have the email request from the attorney as well as a redacted letter from opposing counsel regarding objections to the subpoenas. This is related to CA personal injury cases. While this would be hard for me, this should be fairly easy for a seasoned researcher.
