Is my marriage legal?
Budget: £20 – £250 GBP
I live in the UK but married my husband in Las Vegas, Navada.
We have separated and now going through the divorce it seems like he misrepresented himself on the signed Affidavit in the following ways:
1) He omitted his middle name (picked up in my application of divorce in the UK)
2) He stated it was his first marriage
3) He stated he was single and not divorced (which I believe he is as I have contacted his first wife and she said he fled and never saw him again and although she had no forwarding address to serve the papers, the courts awarded it under abandonment)
I happen to be going through Ancestry and found and obtained a copy of a previous marriage certificate. I had no idea he had been married before. He omitted all these details from the official Affidavit of Application for Marriage License.
How does this stand legally? Is this a prosecutable offense and/or affect the validity of the marriage? Appreciate I may need to get UK advice as we are both UK citizens but wondered how it stands in the US and anything I can do?
