Unfair Business Practices Legal Research
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
As a business owner, I am seeking in-depth legal research covering the United States jurisdiction, with a particular focus on unfair business practices. I require expert investigation into the topic of discrimination by placing reserves on merchant accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comprehensive analysis of the related laws and regulations in the U.S
- Detailed report explaining the implications and potential consequences of these practices
Ideal Candidate:
- Expertise in U.S business law
- Proven background in legal research, preferably with a focus on unfair business practices
- Ability to understand complex legal issues and explain clearly in layman's terms
This project is more than just a research task. It's a chance to create genuine impact for businesses dealing with unfair practices, and to contribute to a fairer business landscape.
My business has been using a business management software which uses STRIPE INC. to process payments. When I bill a client Stripe processes the payment the client makes. Starting in October of 2023 Stripe placed a RESERVES on my account that holds 35% of all payments for 90 days. There reasoning behind this didn't make sense. They said it was because I was high risk for disputes and chargebacks yet I hadn't had any of those for a year. Once I explained my business they would remove the reserve after a couple weeks.. Meanwhile my business came to a halt because that 35% is essential for my business to operate smoothly. the past 6 months they have placed and removed a Reserve on my client payments which has severely disrupted my business operations. I could start jobs, I lost contracts because of that. my business almost went under. This is all because some computer algorithm they are using isn't being supervised properly and its affecting thousands of businesses. I feel this falls under unfair business practices or some close variant of that. I need help finding a piece of law that I can use as grounds for Suing stripe INC. I need to draft a complaint for a civil unlimited case against stripe. I have lost tens of thousands in revenue because of this reserve. either someone wasn't supervising this new computer program or they didn't test it properly before implementing it. Can you help me find that piece of law that will stick in court?
