New York City Apartment Landlord/Legal Tenant issue help
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
Hello - I am a tenant in an apartment in New York City and I am having problems with my rental company. I only have until the end of March to end my contract with them for my lease, but I would like to leave by the end of February instead.
The issues: No heating in the apartment the entire time I've been in apartment (3 months now); no working WiFi (a utility that I have been paying for; construction going on in building with worker safety violations (leaving items in hallway - dangerous situation with reckless behavior and constant construction noise).
I just want out of my lease and to exit the apartment at this point. I have not paid February rent because I want these issues fixed before I do that (which I reported over a month ago and these issues are still on-going). They have my security deposit and my lease is until end of March, but I'd like to not pay for February and exit apartment and call it even.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
