Legal Consultation: Unlawful Disposal of Property
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I'm seeking legal advice and possible legal letter writing concerning a pressing issue involving my flatmate.
My friend/flatmate (who I lived with under a verbal agreement for the last 10 months) became emotionally abusive over the last few months and when I attempted to set boundaries, he locked me out and has taken possession of my pets and belongings. He is now stating he will get rid of my pets by today if I don't pick them up, which is difficult because I'm now homeless with nowhere safe to take them. I need to take necessary steps to prevent this from happening. My current advice points me to the pets being considered 'property' and therefore falling under Uncollected Goods Act, in which 14-28 days notice of disposal must be given, which has not been served. I have lodged an urgent application with NCAT to have the tenancy recognised as a subtenancy, but the matter can't be heard until tomorrow. The ideal professional for this task should have strong expertise in property law and dispute resolution.
Skills and Experience:
- Proficient in property law
- Experience in dispute resolution
- Strong understanding of tenant rights
- Previous work with letter of demand
- Good at providing preventive legal advice
