Junior Employment Defense Litigation Associate Needed
Budget: $2 – $3 USD
We are looking for a Junior Employer-side Employment Defense Litigation Associate in California. (1–4 years of experience) to join our growing team. We need a reliable, self-starting attorney who can take ownership of cases from day one and help manage an expanding caseload, including a major new wage and hour class action.
Role & Responsibilities
Handle the full spectrum of employer-side employment matters, including discrimination, wage and hour, and
Private Attorneys General Act PAGA actions.
Manage pleadings, written and oral discovery, depositions, and motion practice in California state and federal courts.
Take full ownership of substantive work with a high degree of autonomy.
Prepare for mediations and arbitrations.
Potentially anchor the firm's work on a new, large-scale wage and hour class action lawsuit.
Key Requirements
Experience
1–4 years of post- Juris doctorate employer-side employment litigation experience in California.
Background
Experience at a California employment defense boutique or BigLaw Labor & Employment (L&E) practice.
Wage and hour class action or Private attorneys general act PAGA representative action experience is a plus.
Bar Admission
Active California bar admission in good standing.
Education
Juris doctorate (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school (output is valued over pedigree).
Skills & Attributes
Hard Skills
Proven ability to draft pleadings and dispositive motions.
Experience handling all phases of discovery, including taking depositions.
A writing sample is required.
Soft Skills
Highly autonomous, reliable, and a "set it and forget it" team member who can work independently.
Bonus
Business fluency in Mandarin is strongly preferred.
Location
Hybrid role based in either the Downtown Los Angeles or San Jose office.
