Seeking a pragmatic, business-minded lawyer to act as external General Counsel across day-to-day matters and strategic projects for a multi-service, Australia-wide operation.
Scope (all AU aspects)
Commercial & Contracts: MSAs/SOWs, supplier & customer T&Cs, procurement, distribution/reseller, SaaS & licensing, NDAs.
Corporate & Governance: Inter-company docs, board/authority templates, light M&A/DD, shareholder matters.
Employment/Contractor: Engagements, policies, commissions/bonuses, post-employment restraints, disputes.
Privacy, Data & IP: APPs compliance, website terms, cookie notices, IP ownership/assignments, trademarks.
Property & Leasing: Office/industrial leases, make-good, assignments/subleases.
Regulatory/Industry: ACL/marketing claims, technical certification disclaimers, basic ISO/TGA/17025 context.
Disputes/Litigation: Pre-action strategy, letters of demand, mediation/settlement deeds, briefing counsel, interlocutory/urgent relief.
Australia-wide nuance: Familiarity with state differences (e.g., Security of Payment, retail leasing, fair trading) and ability to coordinate local counsel where required.
Must-haves (non-negotiable)
Current Australian practising certificate (state which) + PI insurance
5+ years PQE with broad commercial + dispute capability
Plain-English drafting, pragmatic risk advice, responsive communication
Ability to cover all Australian jurisdictions (directly or via managed local counsel)

Industrial/manufacturing or B2B tech experience
Cross-border coordination (e.g., AU overseas) and trademark filings
