I need a paralegal

Job ID: 32822546

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

In late 2018 my 14 year old pomeranian died suddenly. I was very attached, and probably went a little overboard. I tried finding another show quality pom all over Hawaii and was not having much success. I did find a breeder in Michigan who agreed to send a puppy. Sending a puppy to Hawaii took about 10 months back then due to rabies import laws. All breeders require full payment up front, so I sent her $4,400, which included airfare for her to fly the pup to me. She delayed for a few months due to her personal issues, then covid hit in March of 2020 and she said she could not fly the dog out. Months later she called and told me she had given my pup to her friend 'Nan' because Nan's dog had died and she was grieving, an that Nan had fallen in love with my pup. She offered to start over with another pup or reimburse me. After seeing pics of a couple of her pup options, I told her I preferred to be reimbursed. She agreed to repay me, but said she would need to do it in 4 installments of $1100 each. Well, the first check came recently, and it bounced. Now she is trying to wiggle out of it. My adult son read thru her text trail and says she likely never intends to repay me.

I know that I was silly to ever trust her, but I did. I have the check from her, and the text trail. Although this would be a small claims court issue in Michigan, it is hard for me to figure it out from here (Hawaii). I was hoping you could take me on as a client for this business, writing her a collections letter, or whatever you believe would best work to motivate this person to keep her word.

I am emotional about poms because my sister who died in 1972, when I was 14, and I were going to get poms together when we grew up. This breeder knew that, we feel she intentionally took advantage with the friend Nan story.

Sorry for the long message.

Sincere regards,
Patty
