choose one human rights case on an issue of their own interest. To demonstrate the broader human rights context of the chosen case, the students have to refer to the list of “50 Human Rights Cases You Need to Know” listed by OUP at: http://opil.ouplaw.com/page/426/50-human-rights-cases-you-need-to-know 2. Each student needs to chose a case and prepare a case brief on it. 3. The aim of the case brief is to explain (1) the context the case; (2) the main arguments of the parties; (3) the main human rights issues at stake; (4) the legal reasoning of the court.
The relative weighting of available marks between the three criteria are: Criterion Total Criterion 1: Structure 20 % Criterion 2: Content and synthesis 60 % Criterion 3: Presentation 20 % Total: 100% Moreover, specific attention will be put on the folowing criteria: 1. Ability to express ideas cogently and concisely. 2. Ability to analyse the case and key legal issues relating to another legal system. 3. Overall planning and preparation. 4. Word limit: maximum 1,500 words ( NOT including footnotes and bibliography) oscola referencing, You may exceed this word limit by 10%, that is by an extra 150 words making a total of no more than 1,150 words.
