Timeline of Organizational Compliance

Job ID: 36675611

Budget: $50 – $0 USD

The purpose of this project is to produce a timeline showing how U.S. youth sports organizations (e.g., olympic national governing bodies, national member organizations and unaffiliated youth sports organizations) either complied with or failed to comply with industry standards of care for the prevention of the sexual abuse of players and the sexual misconduct by adult coaches or other adults involved in youth sports.

NOTE: the term "youth sports" means any organization in which the players are under the age of 18.

The project is only concerned with U.S. organizations, not those in other countries and will span from the late 1990s until the present. Information can be drawn from periodicals, peer-reviewed studies, and news accounts. It could also be drawn from legal procedings of civil or criminal cases involving sexual abuse wiithin U.S. sports organizations, if the researcher has access to LexisNexis or another legal search source.

The end product would show both (a) which U.S. youth sports organizations have led by compling with the industry standards of care to prevent sexual abuse of players, andd (b) which U.S. youth sports organiations have lagged behind by only partially compling with such standards.
