Legal Lawyer/Writer/Researcher to Rewrite a Family Planning Kit
Budget: $250 – $750 CAD
We are seeking a lawyer/writer/researcher with proven experience in family law matters, especially estate planning, wills, trusts, and durable power of attorney. The candidate will be responsible for critically reviewing and suggesting improvements and enhancements to an existing product: Family Law Kit.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Suggest corrections, improvements, and enhancements to the four, fill-in-the-blank legal forms included in the Family Law Kit (Last Will & Testament, Living Will, Living Trust, and Durable Power of Attorney).
2. Suggest corrections, improvements, enhancements, addition of new material and removal of existing material to the two 4-page, full-color quick reference guides (Family Law and Wills & Trusts) included in the Kit. These guides will provide more detailed background information should the user require it. The content and organization of the quick reference guides should be such that they are an indispensable reference tool that they will keep and use for years.
2. Ensure the forms and the information on the quick reference guides are applicable in all 50 states and US territories, identifying state-specific variations and differences that deviate from the standardized legal forms provided.
3. Suggest improvements to ensure consistency and synergy between the legal forms and quick reference guides that comprise the Kit. The goal is to achieve a balance between comprehensiveness and ease-of-use. The language, look, and feel, should cater to the average, cost-conscious, American consumer with little or no knowledge of legal matters. Their ultimate experience with the Kit should be: “That was really easy. I am confident that I nailed it.”
6. Provide corrections, improvements, and enhancements in a uniform, highly organized format that is self-explanatory to the graphic designers that will be responsible for the final layout of the Kit. Minor changes and suggestions can be made directly on the supplied PDFs. Extensive changes and input are to be provided in MS Word in a highly uniform and consistent format.
7. Provide a letter of recommendation and approval of the final product as a lawyer and legal professional.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Proven experience in family law matters, with a focus on estate planning, wills, trusts, and durable powers of attorney.
2. EXCEPTIONAL attention to detail and consistency.
3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
4. Expertise with legal terminology and concepts.
5. A proven ability to reduce complex concepts and legalese to simple, non-technical language, without losing comprehension.
6. Excellent online and physical research skills.
7. Ability to work effectively with ChatGPT and other AI tools, while carefully vetting ALL AI-generated content.
8. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Ability to accept constructive criticism.
9. The candidate must be fully invested in achieving an exceptional final product that surpasses anything available on the market today. A commitment to provide changes and rewrites as deemed necessary by the project originator.
This is a freelance position, and candidates will be expected to work remotely. Original files will be provided in PDF format. Prior to commencing this project, the candidate is required to agree to the specific deliverables and milestones. The poster of this project will be solely responsible for assessing the success of this project.
If you are passionate about helping everyday Americans address their end-of-life legal matters efficiently and affordably, we encourage you to apply.
