Advocate for Case Law Research

Job ID: 40249626

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I need a licensed advocate who has been in active practice for at least one year to carry out focused case-law research for an ongoing matter. The core of the job is to locate the most relevant precedents, analyse their applicability, and present the findings in a clear, well-structured memo that I can rely on for further strategy.

Scope of work
• Identify and summarise controlling and persuasive authorities, including any conflicting rulings.
• Pinpoint procedural history, ratio decidendi, and subsequent treatment of each cited case.
• Compile the research in an indexed PDF (or Word) report with live citations for quick reference.

Deliverable acceptance criteria
• Every citation must link to an authentic, publicly accessible source or recognised database.
• Explanations must be concise yet complete—no copy-paste from headnotes.
• The memo should state why each precedent strengthens or weakens our position.

I am open to your preferred tools—Manupatra, SCC Online, or any equivalent—but the end product has to be searchable and easy to navigate. If you can also draft a brief supporting legal note after the research is done, let me know; that would be a bonus.

Please outline your relevant experience and a short example (or description) of similar research you have completed so I can gauge fit quickly.
