List Builder, Appointment Setter & Discovery Researcher — Lawn Care Industry

Job ID: 40351283

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

We need a freelancer to own a short, complete research workflow over the course of one week:

1. Build a targeted contact list of 40–50 small lawn care business owners in the US (from Google Maps, Facebook, Nextdoor, and Yelp — see the Interview Guide for step-by-step instructions per method).

This number is not arbitrary. Industry data shows cold call connection rates of around 16–17%, and it takes an average of 8 attempts to reach a single decision-maker. Working backwards from 4 completed calls: you need approximately 7 booked conversations, which requires meaningful contact with 20–25 owners, which requires a starting list of 40–50. A smaller list risks stalling the engagement before all 4 calls are completed.

The freelancer must not use B2B data platforms ([Apollo.io](http://Apollo.io), ZoomInfo, Lusha, or similar) to build this list.

These tools are built for corporate contacts with LinkedIn profiles and business emails. Our ICP — a 1–5 person lawn care operator running their business from a truck — is poorly represented in B2B databases. Phone numbers returned for this profile type are frequently wrong, stale, or missing. The manual sourcing methods specified in the Interview Guide will produce a better-quality list at no cost.

1. Reach out and book four 15-minute conversations with owners from that list (by phone, text, or DM — scripts provided)
2. Run the four conversations using a structured four-question guide, take verbatim notes, and submit one note document per call
3. Send a short follow-up note to each owner within 24 hours of their call — a personalised missed call estimate based on what they shared (template and guidance provided)

The outreach approach for this role leads with a genuine offer: owners are told upfront that as a thank-you for 15 minutes, they'll receive a plain-English note estimating how much revenue their business is likely losing to missed calls each month. This is what gets busy, successful owners to say yes — and it means the follow-through matters.

This is a research engagement, not a sales role. You will not be pitching anything. You will ask four specific questions, write down what people say, follow up with something useful, and submit clean notes.

The ideal candidate:
- Is comfortable researching and building targeted lists independently
- Has made cold or warm outbound calls before and knows how to handle "who are you and why are you calling?"
- Listens carefully and writes down what people say (not what they meant)
- Follows through reliably — the post-call note is a commitment made to the owner during outreach
- Can manage the full workflow — list → outreach → calls → notes → follow-up — without daily check-ins
- Can complete all four calls within 7–10 business days

You will receive: a full interview guide, outreach scripts for phone/text/DM, a note-taking template, post-call note guidance, and list-building criteria.

Deliverables: one contact spreadsheet (40–50 entries with outreach status), A note taking docuiment with four completed call notes, and copies of the four post-call follow-up notes sent to owners.

A google sheet and two google docs will be provided.
