Setup Stripe One-Time Payment on Laravel -- 2

I have a Laravel project that provides the ability to book event rooms from a restaurant. Once the booking is confirmed by admin/staff, the user is sent an invoice and can pay online.
A previous freelancer integrated Stripe into the project, but it simply marks the invoice as paid even if payment fails. Additionally, payment always fails if there is not an even invoice amount ($162.00 is successful, $162.84 fails).
I need Stripe to report back if payment was successful or failed, then mark the invoice as paid if successful. I also need to be able to bill the user dollars and cents (ie: $162.85) due to tax reasons.
The winning bidder must be able to collaborate on GitHub.
