Freelance Development Project Mentor
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Job Title:
Junior Developer Mentor / Coach (Node.js, TypeScript, Laravel, or Ruby on Rails)
Job Description:
I'm looking for a mentor or coach to help guide us through real-world freelance development projects using Node.js, TypeScript, Laravel, or Ruby on Rails (including database work).
You’ll be helping me (and also might include my programming partner) as we work on projects that are actually posted on freelance platforms. I’ll start coding them myself, but when I get stuck or run into bugs, that’s where you come in.
Availability Required:
You must be available to support us during the following hours (Japan Standard Time):
Monday to Thursday: 13:00 – 16:00 JST
Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 – 12:00 JST
Your Role:
Answer questions via chat (when the issue is simple)
Join a video call when issues can’t be solved through messages
If needed, remotely control the PC to guide us through a solution
Help us debug, solve errors, and teach concepts clearly
Serve as a mentor, like in a real junior–senior developer setting
Requirements:
Must have freelancing experience (now or in the future)
No formal experience needed, but if you've mentored or coached junior developers before, it's a plus
Good communication is key—we're looking for someone patient and clear
Comfortable with video calls, screen sharing, and remote control tools
Must be familiar with Mac OS
Tech Stack:
Node.js
TypeScript
Laravel
Ruby on Rails
Database experience (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)
Notes:
The main goal is skill-building through real projects.
You will help us learn by guiding—not by doing everything yourself.
Important Terms & Expectations:
Availability: If you're not available within 30 minutes during the scheduled time when we reach out for help, the contract may be ended immediately.
Progress & Milestones: I'm not expecting to rush like a horse—we understand learning and problem-solving takes time. But if there's no real progress, and even daily small goals aren't being met consistently, and things keep dragging on with no results, we will also consider ending the contract.
Trial Policy:
The first session (1 hour or up to 1 day) will be treated as a trial. That means:
You won’t be paid for this first trial session.
If we feel the match is good, we will continue to the next session.
From the second day onward, you will be paid based on milestones and actual contribution.
Flexible Scheduling – Partial Availability Accepted (Reduced Rate Applies)
If you're not available for all the time slots listed (e.g. you can’t work weekends or only part of the weekday timeframe), that’s totally fine — I’m open to hiring multiple freelancers to cover the full schedule.
However, please note:
If you're only available for certain days or partial hours, the rate will be adjusted accordingly to reflect the reduced workload and time commitment.
Just let me know which exact days and times (in JST) you're available.
