English-Hindi Literary Translation Coaching
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I want to learn how to translate non-technical texts—especially religious or spiritual literature—from American English into natural, idiomatic Hindi. For this initial, small-scale engagement I’m looking for an experienced translator who can walk me through the essentials rather than deliver a finished translation.
Here’s what I need:
• A concise methodology outline (one-to-two pages) covering tone, register, cultural nuance, and common pitfalls when working with faith-based prose or poetry.
• Two brief source excerpts that I will provide from JW.ORG (about 300 words each) translated with side-by-side Hindi renderings and detailed translator’s notes explaining key decisions.
• A 90-minute live coaching session over Zoom where we review my own attempt at translating a short passage and you provide line-by-line feedback.
Notepad (.txt) tool is required for all renderings. AI accompaniment tools are acceptable if you can explain the reasoning for its choice of wordings. My goal is to become conversational through reading comprehension. Demonstrated experience translating literature, scriptures, or other spirituality-focused texts will help me choose quickly; feel free to attach a short sample.
