Modern Backyard Landscape Design
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
My yard is a blank slate of compacted dirt and block walls, and I’m ready to turn it into a clean, modern outdoor room. I need a complete landscape plan that I can hand straight to an installer.
Scope
• Two of the three perimeter walls should be screened with privacy hedges; the rear wall sits too close to the property line for hedging, so propose a slimmer solution such as espalier or a vertical feature that keeps the modern look.
• Hardscape will be primarily decomposed granite with crisp metal or concrete edging.
• Integrate pockets of drought-tolerant plants and evergreen shrubs so the space stays low-maintenance but never looks bare.
• Carve out a usable patch of artificial turf; I’m not fixed on pile height—my priority is that the product be affordable while still looking natural. Feel free to call out Short, Medium, or Long pile options if it helps keep costs down.
Deliverables
– Scaled plan view showing hardscape, planting, and turf layout
– Plant schedule noting botanical/common names, sizes, and quantities, focused on drought-tolerant varieties and evergreen structure
– Material specs for decomposed granite, edging, and the chosen affordable turf product
– Basic irrigation and lighting zones marked on the plan (no full construction set needed)
– One rendered perspective or simple 3-D view so I can visualize the concept

A clear PDF I can print at 24"×36", plus the editable source file (DWG, SketchUp, or similar) will count as completion.
