We are looking for an experienced Senior Openshift Specialist to support product teams working on the Private Cloud Openshift Platform with compute resource optimization as well as lead the development of training materials for app resource tuning and provide input into the development of self-serve resource optimization advisor online service.

You bring in your Openshift expertise to help our product teams learn best practices for configuring their apps to be efficient with Platform compute resource utilization in Openshift and help the Platform Services Team build a tool that product teams can use to get insights into their app’s resource utilization patterns and get a recommendation for how to tune their app’s resource allocation. The Private Cloud Openshift Platform is currently offered as a free application platform to product teams. Inefficient resource utilization by the teams has resulted in a high amount of Platform cluster compute resources being reserved but not used. This role will work with product teams to help educate them about the importance and benefits of efficient resource allocation and contribute to the development of education materials and self-serve tools for the teams.

In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes and Openshift and ESPECIALLY resource tuning for apps in Openshift is a mandatory requirement for this engagement.

While this is a remote work engagement, we will only accept people working in Canada who are willing to be available during the core business hours of 9am to 4pm PST. (the core team is in British Columbia)

Your typical duties over the course of the contract will include:

- Be available for meetings and online discussions during regular business hours 9am-4pm PST.
- Organize and facilitate meetings with Ministry product teams working on the Private Cloud Openshift Platform to review ther app configuration in Openshift and suggest improvements for better application resiliency and resource utilization
- Lead development of education materials about the best practices for efficient app resources utilization and resiliency in Openshift
- Provide input into the design of a self-serve online service for product teams that will provide recommendations for efficient resource utilization based on the app’s historic usage patterns
