Principal Engineer Tech Leadership

Please read before quoting. The selection process for this role will be highly competitive. There will be a requirement for a Teams Interview. The successful candidate will be an INDIVIDUAL not an Agency. This is an ideal role for a proven senior Principal Engineer who will work closely with the System Architecture Engineer. The scope for this role will be between 3 - 6 months and starting within two weeks.
I need an accomplished Principal Engineer who can step straight into a senior hands-on leadership role within a fast-moving technology product environment. Your 10+ years of professional experience—backed by a Computer Science, Software Engineering or higher degree—should include shipping large-scale systems where Java/Spring sits at the core, supported by AWS cloud services, TypeScript and Node.js on the edge, and Kotlin plus either PostgreSQL or MySQL in the data layer.
Success in this engagement means taking ownership of the technical direction while staying close to the code. You will mentor and unblock engineers, shape clean bounded contexts, and ensure that every new service, API or workflow engine component is aligned with the larger system architecture.
Key responsibilities I will count on you to drive:
• Lead and inspire engineering team through example and clear technical vision
• Remain hands-on with critical code paths, PR reviews and performance troubleshooting
• Design, document and iterate REST/GraphQL APIs and internal workflow engines
• Provide well-reasoned input into system boundaries, data models and migration strategies
