Cross-Platform MIDI Sequencer Plugin
Budget: £75 – £200 GBP
I need a virtual-instrument midi plugin that functions primarily as a realtime midi recorder rather than a traditional step sequencer.
At its core the plugin must:
* Record incoming MIDI in real time and store it as editable pattern
* create mutations of the recorded midi pattern, based on user settings for velocity, key/scale, divide/ratchet notes, density (and/remove % of notes), change note lengths, octave
* Have piano role editor, where pattern loop points, start/end can be set, playback speed for pattern be set
* Save mutations to pattern slots ( up to 8 slots)
* Save preset of recorded and mutated midi patterns
* copy/export midi to DAW
The finished plugin has to load flawlessly as both VST3 (Windows) and AU/VST3 (macOS). Smooth, low-latency playback and tight MIDI timing are critical, so please build on a proven cross-platform audio framework such as JUCE or a comparable toolkit. If you have another framework in mind, let me know why it would be a better fit.
Key workflow expectations
– Simple piano-roll style editor for captured MIDI
– Transport controls (play, stop, record, loop) that sync to the host’s tempo and time signature
– Pattern length selectable in bars or beats, with easy duplication and drag-to-reorder
– Export of the full sequence as a single MIDI file for further work in a DAW
Deliverables
1. Compiled installers for Windows 10+ (VST3) and macOS 11+ (AU & VST3) Code-signed
3. Brief user guide (PDF or Markdown) outlining installation, key features, and shortcuts
4. One revision cycle after initial delivery to iron out usability or compatibility issues
Acceptance criteria
• Passes validation in major hosts (Bitwig and Logic Pro) on both platforms
• Records and plays back MIDI without dropped notes
• Pattern operations remain glitch-free while transport is running
If your background includes JUCE, C++, or similar plugin development, I’d love to hear about comparable projects you’ve shipped and any ideas you have to make this sequencer recorder stand out.
