Electron JS App Completion: Windows, MAC, Linux
Budget: £750 – £1,500 GBP
Requirement:
We have a part-built electron JS application, which due to the requirements of the software, meant the previous developer was unable to deliver a final solution. We require this application to be completed.
We have the source code from the previous developer, which is our property. The application integrates via an API we have developed in-house.
What we require is the application finished to our specification, as outlined below, and within a 1-month timeframe.
Specification:
The software will sit in the taskbar of Windows, MAC, Linux (Smartboards) and ‘listen’ for messaging. If a message is detected it will display an alert window until the acknowledgment button is clicked, and then NOT display the message again. (unless it is a new announcement)
The message is set via our web interface, which creates an entry in our database – to which the software will be ‘listening’ to, for such an alert, via the API.
The alerts can be set to specific zones within the site, so the software might be configured to listen to zone A, and ONLY if an alert is processed through the web interface for zone A will it trigger, and display.
The software must have the following requirements built in:
• Must be installed to the ‘Program Files’ directory.
• Must be capable of being installed via Microsoft Group Policy
• Must be capable of being updated across group policy, via removal and reinstallation of a newer version (the MSI file).
• Must be created as an MSI build for Windows, standard files for MAC and Linux
• Zones are updated via our web portal, as are the site keys – which the software will need to listen to, and update accordingly.
• Site keys are unique keys to that client and have an expiry date. If the key has expired, the software will cease displaying any alerts until a new, valid site key has been entered and the expiry date is valid i.e. the software is within date.
• We will be compiling a JSON file with each MSI, which will contain the database credentials, zone information and site keys.
• We will need a solution for the MAC and Linux distributions though, possibly based on the JSON file being available.
• When alert window has launched, MUST NOT be able to close it down, or minimise without clicking the confirm button on the alert.
• Ensure that users of the computers cannot close the software down without entering admin credentials from the API – unless the software is being removed via group policy.
We have included screenshots of how the application looks currently, and we would like to keep it the same.
Timescale:
1 Month, to be delivered to us by the beginning of April 2024.
