Legacy PHP/MySQL CRM: Feature Updates & Bug Fixes
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Project Overview: We are looking for a PHP Developer to update and refine internal custom-built CRM. The system belongs to a US-based medium-sized business operating in the insurance services and claims processing sector. The CRM is currently in production and is used for client management, lead tracking, reporting, and discount calculations.
Tech Stack & Project State:
- Legacy Procedural Monolith, No modern frameworks!
- Environment: PHP 7, MySQL (using mysqli_ extensions)
- Structure: Spaghetti code (mixed HTML, PHP, and JS inside .php files).
- jquery
Crucial: The developer must be comfortable navigating and refactoring undocumented legacy code without breaking existing production functionality.
Scope of Work:
1. Client Profile Enhancements Expand the client profile page with new fields and blocks:
- Additional contact details.
- Change logs (activity history).
- Linking a client to multiple addresses.
- Section for additional notes and comments.
2. Reporting Module Updates Reports are currently generated via SQL queries into HTML tables.
- Adding new filters (Date, Status, Manager).
- Adding new columns to two existing reports.
- Performance optimization (fixing slow query execution).
3. Refactoring the Discount Mechanism The current "Discount Rules" module needs a logic overhaul:
- Support for multiple discount types (Fixed amount, Percentage, and Combined).
- Dynamic conditions (based on Client Type, Total Amount, Date range, and Service Category).
- Bug fixing and edge-case handling.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with procedural PHP and vanilla codebases.
- Strong SQL skills (optimization and complex joins).
- Ability to maintain and patch legacy code without a total rewrite.
- High attention to detail (the system is live and business-critical).
Project Terms
- Duration: Estimated 1-2 weeks of work.
- Payment: Hourly rate (based on logged hours).
- Potential for long-term collaboration on other modules if this project is successful.
To Apply, Please State:
- Your hourly rate.
- Your experience working specifically with procedural PHP legacy monoliths.
- A brief example of a similar project you’ve handled (if possible).
